The Mamas & the Papas were a defining voice, or set of voices, of the pop and folk-rock of the 1960s. Their infectious melodies meandered through stories of gentle California sunshine, while being a part of the movement of social and political counterculture. In 1967, their record ‘Monday Monday’ earned a Grammy award, and in 1998 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Through their striking vocal harmonies, John Phillips, Cass Elliot, Michelle Phillips, and Denny Doherty’s mark on music is a unique and rich one.

Sitting in on the recording sessions for their newest record at Gravity Studios, I fell in love with ‘Sometimes the Buds Never Flower’ and ‘There’s No One Else Like Lynette.’
